The telethon shortened its format after 2010 and, amid some friction with Lewis, stopped using him as host before the 2011 program, passing those duties onto Nigel Lythgoe, Jann Carl, Alison Sweeney and Nancy ODell. At the time, he was bringing in a then-decent $600,000 a year. The Harrelson family contested the campaign in a statement published on their own website, and they have also claimed that a civil lawsuit is in the works.
